Salute e benessere

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that spreads through the air when a person with active lung TB coughs. TB can also affect other parts of the body, like bones and joints.

People with active TB may have symptoms like fever, night sweats, chest pain, a long-lasting cough that produces mucus, and sometimes coughing up blood. They may also lose weight, feel very tired, and have a poor appetite.

TB is the leading cause of death worldwide from an infectious disease, killing 4,400 people every day—more than HIV/AIDS.

TB is still present in Larimer County. In Colorado, being born in a country with higher rates of TB is the biggest risk factor for active TB, followed by having diabetes.

Test per la tubercolosi

We don’t offer routine TB testing for low-risk individuals, even if it’s needed for school or work.

If you need a TB skin test for a job or school, please reach out to your workplace’s occupational health department or your school’s office for information on where to get tested.
